We’ve just released a new version of Lister with the following improvements:
- Now supports the Desktop Manager backup. No longer lose your lists when updating your BlackBerry OS. This was a huge oversight on our part, sorry it took so long to get this out!
- Lists now ordered by how active they are. Lists you use frequently stay at the top while less important ones fall to the bottom
- Improved email sharing: no more random characters! Also includes an easy to read method of showing due dates and reminders
- add new items to completed lists. Before you had to uncheck an item, add a new item, and then recheck it. Should work a LOT smoother now
- improved menu system. Hopefully Lister will be even easier to use for our newest users. Though you can still create and edit entire lists without ever opening a menu if you’d like!
- various bug fixes: You know the drill, you find ‘em…we squash ‘em. Keep the bug reports and feature requests coming everyone!
Grab the update by pointing your berry to http://m.studentdocket.com and downloading the newest release. AppWorld and Mobihand users can expect the update within a week or so. We’re hard at work testing a new StudentDocket release we hope to have out soon!
We’re please to announce a new update to our Lister Application for all devices. This update features support for item reminders and BlackBerry OS 5.0 support. Also included are a some bug fixes and other minor tweaks. We hope you enjoy Lister’s newest features!
You can download the newest version by pointing your BlackBerry to http://m.studentdocket.com and downloading the newest version. Continue reading for a brief introduction to the new notifications feature.
Item Reminders
Item reminders are a completely optional feature that allows you to set a due date for any item in Lister. Once set, the application will display a popup notification at whatever time you tell it to reminding you that the item is coming up.
To add a due date to any item, simply highlight that item, press the BlackBerry key and select “Add a Due Date.” You can then set the date and reminder times for that item.
Lister will display a small icon next to any item that has a due date, and will popup a status bar along the bottom displaying the date whenever that item is highlighted.
We did our best to keep the application as lean and simple as possible during this update, but let us know if you have any suggestions for how to make it easier to use. Expect a hotkey for adding/editing due dates in the near future, we just wanted to get this out the door to everyone as quickly as possible!
Special thanks to those of you that gave Lister a shot and reported back to us with some feedback. We’ve released a quick update which we’re hoping will address the random beep issue some of you reported when receiving messages after Lister was installed.

We’re excited to announce Lister, our first ever free application! We’ve been working on Lister for quite some time now, and we’re anxious to get some feedback. To try it out, simply point your BlackBerry device to http://m.studentdocket.com and download your free copy today!
Lister is a simple, easy to use application that allows you to create and manage multiple lists at once. When we set out to make Lister, our primary concern was usability, so we’ve done everything we can think of to keep the application streamlined and user friendly.
Just a few of the features include:
Create list items without ever entering a BlackBerry menu
Easily share lists with friends through email. Best of all, these lists are readable even if the receiver doesn’t currently use Lister. If they do, Lister will pick up the list and add it to their application automatically!
Simple hotkeys help you navigate Lister more easily: E to edit a list item, M to move a list item, and C to mark an item complete/incomplete
Search your lists from the home screen
Below are a few videos demonstrating Lister’s easy to use interface and features. If you’d like to give it a shot for yourself, simply point your BlackBerry device to http://m.studentdocket.com and download your free copy today!
We’re pleased to announce a new, FREE version of StudentDocket! StudentDocket Lite is limited to 3 classes with unlimited assignments/projects for each class. Because StudentDocket Lite is new, please consider it an experiment of sorts. Amongst other things, we’re toying with the idea of making it ad supported or changing the allowed number of classes/assignments. If you have any ideas or suggestions for this version, please don’t hesitate to let us know! Download your copy of StudentDocket Lite by pointing your BlackBerry device to http://m.studentdocket.com.

We are getting alot of requests for keys after purchases in the BlackBerry App World. The key appears when the application is initially installed, but it is also saved in the AppWorld application in the My AppWorld section. Click Studentdocket, Then hit the Blackberry key and select “copy license key to the clipboard”. From here you can paste the key into StudentDocket. If you didn’t receive a key, or are having problems registering, please let us know at support@studentdocket.com
By far, one of the most useful methods of getting around a BlackBerry is through hotkeys. Personally, I’ve never been a big fan of the trackball, so I tend to exploit any means of avoiding it…
This is not intended to be a complete list of BlackBerry shortcuts, just a list of all the ones I’m able to remember and use on a daily basis. Also, these are the shortcuts I use on my Verizon BlackBerry Tour…they should work on most BlackBerry devices, but I’m not entirely positive. If you have some handy shortcuts of your own feel free to add them in the comments!

We’ve had a few customers mention that we’re not as easy to get ahold of as they’d like, so here’s a quick note about how to best get in contact with us!
GetSatisfaction: This is probably the quickest and easiest way to get ahold of us. We’re notified about all conversations that take place, and are generally able to respond within a few days at the latest. Also, GetSatisfaction has the added benefit of allowing everyone to contribute and benefit from the comments at once. Chances are, you aren’t the only one who wants that extra feature, has that question, or is a little bit angry with us about something
StudentDocket Support: If the issue concerns billing, locating a missing key, or you simply don’t want to register with GetSatisfaction, then feel free to head on over to our support page and fill out a private support request. These get to us just as fast, but allow us to handle the issue in private (great for sensitive information like tracking down registration keys).
While we frequent other BlackBerry forums fairly often, it does take us quite a bit longer to locate and address any support requests posted there.
Hope this helps! We definitely want you all to be able to get in contact with us as quickly and easily as possible whenever necessary. Hit the comments or send us a quick message if you have any suggestions on how we could make our support process easier.
We’ve gotten a few comments about the keyboard in the Storm version of StudentDocket dissappearing, sticking, or otherwise just causing some headaches. Just wanted to send a quick note to let you all know that we hear you loud and clear, and are currently trying to figure out what the issue could be. We’ll let you know when we’ve found a fix!
Sorry for any inconvenience, please send us a quick message on the support page if you’ve noticed any other issues with either the Storm or standard versions of StudentDocket.
I am a homeschooling mom who needs to keep track of schoolwork and schedules. So I am putting this program to a different test. So far I am truly impressed. I put in what I am teaching as well as what I am learning. I am glad to be a part of this community. — Diana
